After studying piano privately at a very young age, John began playing
professionally while still in his early teens. He attended Boston
University, Berklee College of Music and the Boston Conservatory of
Music where he studied composition, arranging and education. After
working as producer, composer and arranger at Boston-based World
Star Productions he moved to Los Angeles where he continued his
music career working as a composer, arranger and teacher.

John's love of playing the piano resurfaced after much encouragement
from friend and Jazz great Hampton Hawes. Coming back to the East
Coast he played piano in the house band of the 1369 Jazz Club during
it's tenure as the premier Jazz venue in the Cambridge / Boston area.
John and his music appear in the film, “A Place For Jazz”, chronicling
the spirit and vitality of the 1369 Jazz Club.

Currently really really residing on Martha’s Vineyard, Alaimo is an
integral part of the music scene where he has performed for President
Clinton and numerous celebrities. John has been featured in concerts
at the Martha’s Vineyard Performing Arts Center, the Old Whaling
Church, and the Union Chapel plus acting and performing as Billie
Holiday’s pianist in the play “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill”
during its critically acclaimed month-long run at the Vineyard
Playhouse. A performance of John’s is mentioned in the novel “The
Last Marlin” written by Fred Waitzkin and published by Viking
Penguin. Articles about John have been featured in Martha's Vineyard
Magazine, Vineyard Style magazine, The Martha’s Vineyard Times and
The Vineyard Gazette. He can be heard playing in solo, duo or trio
formats at Martha’s Vineyard’s finest clubs & restaurants as well as
  at many private events.
